Experience South Africa 17 day Tour
Kim and Dave from Cornwall, UK, recently travelled with Move Safaris discovering the main attractions and highlights of South Africa on this accommodated adventure tour. The tour starts in Johannesburg and ends in Cape Town. Read their feedback here.
First up was the Panorama Route toward Pilgrims Rest, Bourkes Luck Potholes Gods Window. With the first night spent on a working Macadamia nut farm not far from Kruger National Park. We made a braai/bbq for dinner under a huge Natal Mahogany trees in what I would call a birders paradise garden. The next morning we entered Kruger National Park. Eyes wide open and binoculars at hand. The wildlife highlight of the Kruger NP would be the cheetah we saw lying in the open veld. Pure viewing pleasure.
The Experience South Africa tour is designed to give one a good overall feeling of the country, covering all the points of interest. Therefore the nature of the tour is constantly changing all and it feels like you are simply going from one exciting wildlife sighting or beautiful view point to the next. A good mix of South African wildlife, bush, rural and modern life.
Another highlight for us was at uMkuze Game Reserve. Myself and Dave were waiting at the waterhole hide. It seemed like nothing was going to come and drink, and then all of a sudden the place exploded with activity. Wildebees/Gnu rushed in to drink, close on their heels were zebra's, then Nyala, Impala, Worthog. The bird life was also prolific at the waterhole, there was a huge abundance of species. It was like watching a "Planet Earth" documentary scene.

From Zululand we carried on to Drakensberg Mountains, Wild Coast, Addo Elephant National Park, Knysna, Storms River Mouth/Tsitsikamma, Hermanus and eventually Cape Town. This is along the Garden Route.
Cape Town is always a great part of the tour. Time was spent doing a full Peninsula tour, Cape Of Good Hope and Table Mountain National Park, V&A Waterfront. Dining out in Cape Town is always a treat and visiting the Winelands is a pleasure!

This desert was really good, I'm looking forward to the next trip!
