Itinerary

Day 1-4: 3Nights in Khwai Tenented Family Camp- Khwai Cummunity Area, Okavango Delta

On arrival into Maun, you will be met and transferred by private charter to Khwai Airstrip. Upon your arrival at Khwai airstrip you will game drive through the concession area to Khwai Tented Family Camp for the next three nights of your safari adventure.

Khwai is a private community run concession on the eastern border of the Moremi Game Reserve along the river Khwai. The Khwai River forms a boundary between the reserve and the community area. The river is the sole source of water for miles around attracting wildlife from afar. As this is community run all proceeds from tourism go directly to help local people and local projects through the Khwai Community Trust.

This being a community concession, guests are privy to night drives which are usually not permitted in the National Parks or Game Reserve. Exploring after dark with spotlights offers you an opportunity to experience some of the nocturnal animals that are rarely encountered during the day. There is the added opportunity to explore the surrounding wilderness on foot and enjoy an up close personal encounter with the varied flora and fauna in the area. The vegetation here is quite different from the Western section of Moremi where great stands of leadwood and mopane woodlands occur in close proximity to open grasslands and the Khwai River.

The camp has the romance of a mobile camp, where there are no permanent structures and everything can be removed to leave the wilderness exactly as we found it, having little or no impact on the environment. You will enjoy spacious and comfortable tented accommodation, with beds and private en-suite bathrooms in this remote wilderness area. This camp is furnished with bucket showers under the stars. Your toilet is also en-suite and is a flush toilet for your convenience.

Wildlife encountered include lion, cheetah, leopard, wild dog, as well as a multitude of other animals, including elephant, buffalo, zebra, hippo and giraffe to name a few.

Day 4-7: 3 Nights in Linyanti Ebony Fmaily Camp, Chobe Enclave

After an early morning activity at Khwai Tented Family Camp you will game drive through to the airstrip where you will connect with your charter flight to Saile airstrip. Upon your arrival at Saile airstrip you will game drive through the Chobe Enclave to Linyanti Ebony Family Camp for the next three nights of your safari adventure.

Built on raised decking overlooking the Linyanti Marsh, this 10-bedded intimate tented camp offers you stunning views of the Linyanti River. Game drives in open 4×4 vehicles, walking excursions with an armed professional guide, boating and fishing along the recently replenished water lagoons, and mokoro excursions are all activities on offer to provide you the opportunity to enjoy this unique riverscape up close.

The camp’s well-appointed accommodation includes 3 twin bedded tents and 1 luxury family room. A private dining and lounge area with a splash pool makes the camp a perfect choice for family experiences or small groups requiring exclusive use of a camp. It also offers accommodation for tour leaders and private guides on escorted safaris. Linyanti Ebony can be booked exclusively with a minimum of 8 people and is open all year round.

Linyanti is best known for its large populations of Elephant and buffalo that congregate in vast numbers especially during the dry season. Other wildlife encounters include Lion, sable, roan, leopard, wild dog, the rare and elusive sitatunga antelope, red lechwe, hippo and crocodile, as well as other species of plains game. The area also offers spectacular birding all year round. The area's relative remoteness makes it a favored wild safari destination and one of the best sought after areas in Northern Botswana.

Day 7-9: 2 Nights in Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, Victoria Falls

After a delightful activity at Linyanti Ebony Camp, you will game drive through to the Saile airstrip for your charter flight to Kasane Airport, from where you will be transferred by road to Victoria Falls Safari Lodge where you’ll spend 2 nights on a bed and breakfast basis.

The Victoria Falls Safari Lodge is a luxury haven in an un-spoilt area of Zimbabwe. The property is set high on a plateau overlooking the Zambezi National Park, and a mere 3km from the Victoria Falls. The views from the lodge are spectacular and a great variety of wildlife can be spotted at and around the nearby waterhole. These include elephant, kudu, buffalo, waterbuck and various other smaller animals. The entire lodge has been built to afford its guests the best views of the bushveld, the National Park and the waterhole. Each room has its own private balcony to ensure great views, and binoculars are available from reception if you’d like to get a close-up view.

The lodge is decorated in warm African patterns and colors, creating a very homely feeling. We loved the extra length beds and the remote-controlled air-conditioners. And if that doesn’t sound like luxury – consider the fact that there are phones in the bedrooms, bathrooms and lounges of the suites. The top floor has a small lounge and the most spectacular look-out spot of all. We could easily see some kudu and impala having a drink in the distance. The lodge’s Buffalo Bar is also situated on one of these levels and overlooks the beautiful rock pool and its lush surrounds.

Dining at the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge is quite an experience, especially if you choose to dine at the nearby The Boma – Place of Eating, an open-sided restaurant sheltered by the indigenous Gusu forest. Here you will be subject to a cultural experience of note. The evening kicks off with the custom of pre-dinner hand washing and tasting of the local beer, followed by a performance by traditional Ndebele dancers and singers..

Day 9-12 :3 Nights in Somalisa Acacia Family Camp, Hwange National Park

After breakfast you will be transferred to Victoria Falls Airport from where you’ll jump aboard a charter flight to Hwange for 3 nights at Somalisa Acacia Family Camp Positioned alongside the famous Somalisa Camp, known as ‘the home of the elephants’, this charming camp caters for an intimate gathering of only 8 people. All the simple but luxurious tents are on slightly raised decks, under the dappled canopy of a grove of Acacias on the western side of Somalisa.

The camp enjoys its own private views of a small water hole, frequented by large herds of big game including buffalo, elephant, kudu, zebra, giraffe, and even lion. A small splash pool allows you to cool off during the heat of the day. Activities on offer are game drives and walking excursions with the camp’s professional guides. Most of the activities are in the Somalisa private concession but with easy access to other parts of Hwange National Park.

Somalisa Acacia has 3 twin bedded tents and 1 family tent, all with en-suite bathroom facilities. It also has its own dining and lounge area. A private guide and tour leader facility is available on special request.

On special request Somalisa Acacia can be booked in conjunction with Somalisa Camp to cater for larger groups of up to 20 people. Activities include guided walks lead by qualified and passionate guides who will share their knowledge and love of the bush with you, game drives and night drives. Wildlife sightings include elephant, kudu, sable antelope, zebra, wildebeest, gemsbok, the rare and endangered roan antelope, buffalo, giraffe, white rhino, lion, leopard, hyena, and many other wildlife species.

Day 12: Somalisa Acacia Family Camp
